PISTACHIO

Pistachio in perfume suggests a nutty, creamy sweetness, often closer to pistachio desserts than to a plain handful of nuts. Its character depends on the surrounding accord: an ice-cream impression can feel soft and milky, while roasted nut and spice notes give the sweetness more texture. The label describes a scent idea and does not establish that a fragrance contains an extract of the nut.

Perfume houses illustrate different interpretations. D.S. & Durga places pistachio alongside roasted almond, cardamom, vanilla and patchouli, giving the dessert theme an earthy counterweight. KAYALI presents a gelato interpretation with hazelnut, whipped cream and marshmallow. These examples show why pistachio need not mean one fixed level of sweetness or a single formula. Look at the accompanying notes to distinguish a fluffy confectionery effect from a spicier or woodier treatment.
