RAIN NOTES

Rain notes in perfume evoke an atmosphere: watery freshness, wet leaves or the earthy impression of ground after rainfall. They describe an imagined scene rather than one extract or a standard formula. A rain-themed fragrance can therefore feel airy and floral, green and damp, or more strongly focused on the earth.

CLEAN RESERVE Rain combines watery cucumber, flowers and musk with vetiver and patchouli for its interpretation of air after rain. Le Labo’s Baie 19 approaches the theme through juniper, patchouli and green leaves, explicitly evoking rain after drought. This earthy direction is useful to distinguish from a lighter watery effect when choosing a fragrance. Rain notes do not necessarily imply marine saltiness, nor does the label identify a particular aroma molecule. Read the surrounding notes to judge which rainy landscape the composition suggests.
