RED GRAPE

Red grape in perfume points to the fruit itself, rather than automatically to wine. It can suggest a full, rounded fruit impression within a composition, but the colour does not specify a grape variety or a single scent shared by all grapes. A wine-like or fermented effect needs to be established by the fragrance’s own description.

Simone Andreoli presents red grape with pear and fig in Criminal Lipstick, then frames the fruit with flowers, oud, vanilla, cedarwood and musk. This is a useful example of grape in a rich fruity-floral composition with a woody setting. When exploring the note, check whether fruit, flowers or warmer surrounding notes lead the overall character. The label alone does not prove grape juice or extract in the formula, and it does not require a fixed level of sweetness, strength or duration.
