RHUM AGRICOLE

Rhum agricole in perfume refers to a rum-inspired scent theme rooted in spirits distilled from fresh sugarcane juice. It can suggest a vegetal side of rum rather than only caramel-like richness. The distinction concerns the drink that inspires the note; it does not mean that rum has been poured into the perfume.

The source spirit is not uniform. Clément describes its white rum with sweet, vegetal and black-tea aromas, while its aged examples include vanilla, cocoa, dried fruit or spice. These offer different references for a perfumer’s interpretation, not a checklist every fragrance must reproduce. Look at the other notes to judge whether the setting leans green and fresh or warmer and sweeter. Neither greater complexity than other rums nor a fixed lasting power follows from the name.
