ROCK ROSE / CISTUS LABDANUM (ANDALUSIA)
Andalusian cistus and labdanum evoke the warm, resinous side of perfume: amber richness, woody shading and a balsamic impression that can become sweet and full in a labdanum absolute. The regional name connects this theme with southern Spain, where Cistus ladanifer grows and is processed for fragrance materials. It does not establish a single scent shared by every Andalusian extract.
The distinction between plant and gum matters. Preparations from the shrub’s twigs are described as cistus, while labdanum materials come from its aromatic gum. Biolandes works with both in Andalusia’s Andévalo region. This combined note name leaves the precise preparation open, so accompanying woods, resins and amber notes offer useful clues to the perfume’s character. The geographical label alone does not verify an individual fragrance’s ingredient sourcing.
