ROSE (TAIF)

Taif rose brings a rose-flower theme associated with the Taif region of Saudi Arabia. In perfume it can form a rich floral centre, while the surrounding ingredients determine how sweet, fresh or spicy the result feels. Dates, saffron and amber can create a warm setting, but these are companion notes rather than the inherent smell of the flower.

Taif has a documented tradition of cultivating and harvesting roses and distilling them for rose water and essential oil. That material heritage is distinct from a finished perfume’s note list, which can also describe a composed rose accord. Ormonde Jayne’s Ta’if, for example, names a rose accord alongside a palette including dates, saffron and amber. When exploring the note, consider whether you prefer that fuller setting or a composition that gives the floral impression more space.
