ROSEWOOD

Rosewood can combine a woody impression with floral softness and a little spice. A wood-derived oil may feel sweet and rounded, while a leaf oil can show a greener, more aromatic edge with a faint rosy nuance. The balance matters: rosewood need not resemble a dense, dark timber scent, nor is it the same as rose-flower perfume.

A documented source of perfumery rosewood oil is Aniba rosaeodora. Suppliers offer steam-distilled oils from its wood as well as its leaves, and these materials should not be assumed to have identical profiles. The name does not mean wood from a rose bush. In a finished fragrance, a rosewood note can describe a woody-floral effect without confirming a particular natural oil. Explore whether the composition emphasizes soft flowers, aromatic freshness or the warmer side of wood.
