SALTED BUTTER

Salted butter suggests creamy, dairy-like richness with a savoury edge. In perfume, that contrast can make a bread or pastry impression feel fuller and less purely sugary. It can also appear in greener surroundings: butter-like softness against stems and leaves creates a different effect from a caramel dessert. The note is therefore about both texture and the balance between richness and saltiness.

Its construction varies. Butter CO₂ extract has been used in perfume, while a salted-butter impression can also be composed as an accord. The note name alone does not confirm dairy content or a particular ingredient recipe. Explore whether the composition brings out warm baked notes, a smooth creamy centre or a sharper green contrast, rather than expecting every salted-butter fragrance to smell equally sweet.
