Sesame in perfume evokes toasted seeds, warm cereal and a nutty richness that can feel more savoury than sugary. It brings the idea of gentle roasting rather than a simple vanilla sweetness. Depending on the composition, this character can give a gourmand fragrance a drier edge or connect creamy notes with warm woods and spice.

The botanical source is Sesamum indicum. Natural perfumery extracts are available: dsm-firmenich offers a seed-derived SFE absolute whose profile includes toasted bread and cereal. Its process uses supercritical carbon dioxide followed by an additional absolute step. That material is an example, not the sole way to build a sesame note. A perfume may use an extract or an accord, and the listed note does not establish seed colour, roasting method or the presence of ordinary culinary sesame oil.
