STEEL ACCORD

A steel accord suggests the crispness of polished metal through smell. It can feel cool, sharp and airy, bringing an unusual contrast to flowers, warm woods or leather. The impression may be closer to the clean edge of a metal surface than to earthy minerals, although each composition can interpret the idea differently. Steel is a visual and tactile reference translated into fragrance.

This is a composed accord, not a metal extract or a formula shared by all perfumers. Clive Christian, for example, describes an ozonic accord in Inox as fresh air evoking the lines of steel, alongside a metallic rose effect. Ozonic here means an airy scent impression. That example supports one interpretation without making all steel accords identical. The label does not require a particular aldehyde, smoky facet or fixed place in the fragrance, and it does not predict longevity.
