STONE ACCORD

A stone accord evokes a mineral surface through scent, often with an impression of coolness or dry, powdery texture. It can give fruit and flowers a less sugary setting or form a contrast with aromatic herbs and woods. Rather than one unmistakable smell, stone describes a family of interpretations: the surrounding perfume determines whether the effect feels airy, dry or softly rounded.

This is a composed accord rather than an extract identified by a rock species. Oriflame places a black stone accord beside lavandin and juniper in Glacier Extreme; Acqua Alpes lists stone with musk and pine in the base of its powdery-mineral 2677. These examples show different ways to suggest mineral depth. The term does not require granite, slate, rain or a standard mix of molecules, and neither a fixed heart-note role nor guaranteed longevity follows from the name.
