SUEDERAL

Suederal is a leather fragrance base from IFF, used to create the impression of suede and leather. Behind the soft material association, its scent can have a firmer, darker edge: suppliers describe tobacco-like, smoky and animalic facets. Here, animalic means a warm, hide-like nuance in the smell; it is not by itself evidence of an animal ingredient.

A base is a prepared blend of fragrance materials, rather than a single aroma molecule. Suederal can give a leather theme definition or add a darker contrast within white-floral, incense and smoky compositions. Its presence need not turn the whole fragrance into a leather scent, because the amount used and surrounding notes change the result. The name identifies a particular perfumery base, unlike the broader descriptive note suede, but does not disclose a finished perfume’s formula or guarantee its performance.
