TARRAGON

Tarragon brings a green herb smell with a recognisable sweet anise-like accent. It can suggest crushed kitchen herbs rather than a purely grassy freshness, with a spicy, gently balsamic side in the essential oil. That combination makes the note useful for someone who enjoys aromatic fragrances with a distinctive herbal character.

The plant is Artemisia dracunculus. Perfumery oils are obtained by distilling its aerial parts; suppliers may use leaves, stems and flowers, so an oil should not automatically be described as a leaf-only extract. Within a composition, tarragon can reinforce the herbal side of lavender or give citrus a greener outline. The familiar cooking herb provides an accessible scent reference, but a listed note neither proves natural oil is present nor fixes the fragrance’s strength, duration or position in a note pyramid.
