TIMBERSILK (CEDARWOOD NOTE)

Timbersilk™ is an IFF fragrance material with a rounded woody scent, cedar-like facets and warm amber shading. It can feel dry yet velvety, giving the impression of wood with its rough edges softened. The cedarwood reference describes its smell; Timbersilk is a manufactured aroma material rather than cedar essential oil.

In a composition, it can fill out the woody background and help that character feel more spacious. Softness here describes texture, not necessarily low impact: the material can be quite assertive depending on its amount and companions. IFF suggests combinations with bergamot and other woody or musk materials, while floral blends can also use its rounded foundation. It belongs to the same broad material family as Iso E Super but is a distinct commercial product.
