TOASTED SUGAR

Toasted sugar is a gourmand scent idea, suggesting sugar warmed towards caramel rather than the taste of plain sugar alone. It can bring a rounded, cooked sweetness to perfume, with a creamy or vanilla-like impression when those notes surround it. The word toasted does not necessarily promise smoke or a bitter burnt edge.

This is a descriptive accord, not a specification for sugar added to the bottle. Perfumers have different ways to create a caramel-like effect: dsm-firmenich describes Furaneol as a caramel-fruity material, for example, but that does not establish its presence in every toasted sugar note. Beso Beach lists toasted sugar with heliotrope and cistus in Beso Canalla, within a composition that also includes woods and amber. Such settings show how sugary warmth can form part of a wider fragrance rather than a literal dessert reproduction.
