TROPICAL FRUITS

Tropical fruits describe a broad fruity theme that can feel juicy, sweet and refreshing. The name does not specify one fruit, and different perfumes can give it quite different proportions of brightness and richness. A tropical fruit impression may be part of a larger bouquet rather than a clearly separable fruit that everyone will identify in the same way.

Aquaflor lists tropical fruits in the opening of Orphyca alongside citrus and peach. Montale sets them against flowers, patchouli and oakmoss in Chypré Fruité, showing that they need not belong only to a sweet dessert-like fragrance. These examples describe individual compositions, not a recipe for the category. The term does not reveal whether natural extracts, other aroma materials or a combination creates the effect. When exploring, compare the fruit with its surroundings: a floral, mossy or creamy context can change the overall impression considerably.
