TROPICAL NOTES

Tropical notes describe a broad fragrance theme rather than a single ingredient. They can bring together juicy fruit, creamy coconut and floral impressions, creating a sense of warmth and abundance. Some interpretations lean towards a fruit cocktail, others towards flowers; the word alone does not tell you exactly which elements will be most noticeable.

Kilian uses the term for Piña Paraíso, a composition inspired by a piña colada with pineapple, rum, coconut and frangipani notes. This illustrates one way a tropical theme crosses fruit, floral and gourmand territory. It is not a template for every tropical fragrance, and rum or coconut are not compulsory. The label is also not evidence that ingredients were harvested in a particular climate. Read it as an overall direction, then use the more specific notes to judge the balance of freshness, creaminess and sweetness.
