VANILLA CO₂

Vanilla CO₂ names a vanilla extract made using carbon dioxide. Its sweetness can be accompanied by a powdery softness and a warm, resin-like balsamic character. Depending on the particular material, there may also be a darker suggestion of leather and spice. The CO₂ qualifier describes extraction, not a country or a separate vanilla species. Under controlled conditions, carbon dioxide acts as the extracting solvent; the name does not mean that no solvent is involved. Further processing may also differ between suppliers. In a perfume, such an extract can support a sweet accord or give substance to woods and resins. Its presence in a note list is not a full formula, and the method alone guarantees neither superior quality nor longer wear.
