VINE WOOD

Vine wood in perfume evokes the woody part of a grapevine rather than the juicy fruit or the aroma of wine. It can suggest a dry, warm framework around greener leaves, herbs or fruit notes. Think of the structure of a vineyard scene: wood beneath the foliage, with the surrounding composition supplying its particular freshness or sweetness.

Perfume houses interpret that image differently. Pelegrims lists vine wood separately from grapes in its vineyard-inspired Wintreow, while Jo Malone describes a grapevine effect through cedarwood and vetiver. These examples show an olfactory idea rather than one standard vine-wood extract or recipe. The note need not be smoky, burnt or rougher than cedar. Its texture depends on how it is constructed, and a note listing alone does not confirm that grapevine wood was physically extracted for the perfume.
