WATERY
Watery describes a texture in perfume: an impression of freshness, space and moisture around the other notes. It may suggest dew on petals, clear fresh water or a marine breeze, depending on the composition. A watery floral can feel softly transparent, while a marine interpretation may have a more expansive, ozonic edge. The term does not require saltiness or a recognisable fruit.
Different fragrance materials can build these impressions. dsm-firmenich describes Calone® through marine and ozonic facets with floral undertones; Cascalone® combines aquatic freshness with sweeter fruity and transparent floral shades. They illustrate the range, not a mandatory recipe. Watery is neither a statement about how much water is in the bottle nor a synonym for weak or short-lived perfume. Its prominence and persistence depend on the chosen materials and their balance.
