WHEAT

Wheat in perfume can suggest warm grain, dry bread crust and a gentle sweetness, giving a composition a cereal texture. It need not resemble a sugary pastry: the grainy side can sit beside softer honeyed shades or a drier toasted impression. This is a useful note to explore if you enjoy the idea of bread and cereals as an alternative to vanilla-led gourmand sweetness.

Both ingredient-based and imaginative interpretations exist. Perfumiarz describes its wheat or bran absolute with sweet grain, honey and dry-bread facets. Serge Lutens places wheat within the bread-inspired scene of Jeux de peau, while KILIAN PARIS names wheat absolute in the whisky-inspired Old Fashioned. These examples do not establish one extraction method for every wheat note. The name alone also does not tell you whether a perfume uses an absolute or another construction of a cereal effect.
