WHITE AMBER

White amber describes a pale, airy interpretation of amber in perfume. It can suggest soft warmth, a smooth almost creamy texture and, in some versions, a faint salty edge. The word white is an image of the scent rather than the colour of a material. It helps distinguish this kind of impression from a darker, more densely resinous amber accord, although the boundary is not a fixed technical classification.

There is no single recipe implied by the name. A house may combine its white amber with vanilla, flowers or musk, while another may emphasise an ambergris-like facet. These choices change the balance of sweetness, softness and space. White amber therefore does not automatically mean Ambroxan, natural ambergris or an extract of fossil amber. Its light-seeming texture also says nothing certain about how strongly or how long the finished perfume will wear.
