WHITE WINE

White wine in perfume is a wine-inspired impression that can bring fresh fruit, a light floral nuance and a recognisably vinous edge. Some interpretations feel bright and citrus-like; others suggest softer, nectar-like fruit. The inspiration is broad, so a white-wine note need not reproduce one grape variety or smell exactly like a glass poured at the table.

The accord can lend a drink-like twist to a fruity fragrance or sit among flowers and sweeter gourmand notes. A sparkling description usually describes olfactory liveliness, not actual bubbles: white wine is not necessarily sparkling wine. The note name also does not establish that wine has been added to the bottle or reveal how the effect was made. Consider the whole composition when choosing between a crisp interpretation and a rounder, sweeter one; the wine note alone does not determine intensity or lasting power.
