WHITE WOODS

White woods describes a light-toned woody impression in perfume, often smooth and softly dry rather than heavily charred or resinous. The word white gives an image of the scent’s texture; it is not a botanical identification or a list of pale-coloured timber. A fragrance may interpret the idea with a transparent woody outline or a rounder, more cushioned feel.

This note can give a floral composition structure without obscuring its fresh character. Alongside musks it may feel softer, while citrus or green notes can emphasise its brighter side. These are possible relationships within a composition, not ingredients required by the name. White woods does not prove the presence of birch, maple, sandalwood or any particular extract. Nor does the light-sounding label guarantee a faint perfume: the materials, proportions and surrounding notes determine its fullness and how it wears.
