YELLOW MANDARIN

Yellow mandarin has a sweet, zesty citrus character, bringing together a juicy orange-like impression and the brighter tang of peel. It can feel rounded without losing freshness. In essential-oil terminology, yellow describes mandarin harvested partway through ripening; it is not simply another name for lemon or a claim about the colour of a finished perfume.

The natural oil is cold pressed from mandarin peel. Its scent varies with the fruit and the particular oil, so yellow should not be treated as a precise sweetness scale between green and red mandarin. In fragrance, this note can brighten flowers or sit alongside other citrus notes without the sharpness becoming the whole story. A listed note describes the intended smell rather than proving the presence of that oil, and its development depends on the complete composition.
