GALBANUM
Galbanum is a resin-derived perfumery note with a distinctly green character. It can carry a bitter edge, earthy depth and woody nuances, giving freshness a less citrus-like direction. Robertet describes these facets in its galbanum oil, while its absolute emphasizes green, woody and resinous aspects. The form of the material matters, so a galbanum note should not be reduced to one identical scent profile.
The starting material is gum from Ferula plants. Steam distillation produces an essential oil, while solvent extraction followed by alcohol purification can produce an absolute.
