ALMOND LEAVES

Almond Leaves are a fresh, green-aromatic note in perfumery that evokes the scent of young almond tree foliage warmed by sunlight. Their aroma is softly vegetal, slightly bitter-green, and faintly nutty, blending nuances of crushed leaves, fresh stems, and a delicate almond-like sweetness. Compared to the rich gourmand character of almond kernels, Almond Leaves feel lighter, fresher, and more botanical, suggesting spring orchards, tender shoots, and wind moving through fruit trees. Used primarily as a top or heart note, they add natural greenness and subtle complexity to floral, fruity, and woody compositions.

History & Production: Almond trees (Prunus dulcis) have been cultivated for thousands of years across the Mediterranean and Middle East, valued for their edible seeds and fragrant blossoms. In perfumery, however, almond-related scents are rarely extracted directly from the nut or leaves, as they yield little usable aromatic oil. Instead, the characteristic almond nuance is often recreated using benzaldehyde or related molecules, which deliver the recognizable bitter-almond aroma associated with marzipan and almond desserts. In fragrance design, Almond Leaves are interpreted as a green botanical accord, combining leafy notes with subtle almond facets. When paired with cherry blossom, heliotrope, or soft woods, they create a fresh orchard-like atmosphere—the scent of almond trees in early spring, where green leaves and blossoms drift through warm air.
