ΣΧΙΝΟΣ
Ο σχίνος δίνει ένα πράσινο, αρωματικό θέμα με ρητινώδεις και ξυλώδεις πλευρές. Το έλαιο φύλλων και κλαδιών μπορεί να μυρίζει βοτανικά και γήινα, με φρεσκάδα κωνοφόρων πάνω από ζεστό ξύλο. Παραπέμπει περισσότερο σε φυλλώδεις θάμνους παρά σε γλυκό φιστικιού, παρά τη συγγένεια των φυτών. Στο άρωμα μπορεί να ενώνει φωτεινά εσπεριδοειδή με πράσινη ρητίνη ή να τονίζει τα ξύλα.
Το Pistacia lentiscus είναι αειθαλής θάμνος που δίνει διαφορετικά αρωματικά υλικά. Φύλλα και κλαδάκια μπορούν να αποσταχθούν για αιθέριο έλαιο, ενώ η ρητίνη μαστίχα είναι άλλη πηγή. Τα υλικά δεν ταυτίζονται. Το φυλλικό έλαιο μπορεί να τονίζει το πράσινο, το ρητινώδες το ξύλο και τα κωνοφόρα. Η νότα δεν ορίζει συγκεκριμένο υλικό, προέλευση ή μείγμα.
